“Eisenia
foetidas”
Our little composters!
These smaller members of the Redworm family are great little munchers. They are the preferred worm for composting and tend
to “stay put”.
Composting is
a wonderful, clean, "green" way to recycle. The castings,(worm poop), is some of the best stuff there is for potting soil
and natural fertilizer.
We initially
raised these worms under our rabbit cages for fly control, as we do not use pesticides or other chemicals on our property.
People are often amazed that there is no bad smell or fly control issues on our farm.
As our farm grew,
we connected with a few good size worm brokers and sold 100-300 pounds wholesale each week for years. Our worms now grace New
York landfills and some exclusive golf courses throughout the world!
We since have
begun our own retail shipping service and continue to sell to a diversified group of customers, including bait shops, schools,
home composters and serious fishermen!
